I am 35 years old and had zero health concerns and took zero medications prior to being vaccinated.
In Spring 2020 my neighborhood long-term-care (LTC) home was in a large and deadly COVID outbreak and they needed helping hands. I shut my small business down and raised my hand to help, noting that l’ve never worked in healthcare before. I worked on the COVID floor for a few weeks until things started looking up.
In Summer 2020, the LTC home asked if I would come back and help as they were still short staffed. So l picked up shifts every other weekend and picked up extra shifts as they came.
In January 2021 I got a phone call telling me that they were booking staff in for COVID vaccinations and despite knowing I did not want it, I was all in at this point, to help the LTC home and the seniors who live there. So I agreed to get my first vaccination on January 6th in the afternoon.
My reaction progressively got worse as each day passed, starting off with feeling ill and very tired. On the third day after my vaccination my resting heart rate was extremely high and abnormal and I slept almost 20 hours.
On day four after my vaccination, I woke up unable to breathe. My heart rate was 160/170 bpm (at resting) and eventually my mouth started to swell and my throat started to close (or it felt like it). I downed a bottle of Benadryl and rushed to the ER. When I arrived, the nurse said my heart rate was very high and they were concerned about a possible heart attack or stroke. They immediately hooked me up to some monitors and did bloodwork. My bloodwork came back elevated, so they rushed me in for a CT scan. Nothing showed on the CT scan and they told me since this was all so new to them, they had no playbook. The ER discharged me and put a referral in with an immunologist. For the next month my heart rate continued to be extremely high, I couldn’t catch my breath at all sometimes. I also developed rashes and welts all over my body all day, every day.
I had called my doctor complaining a few times, but it took a push from a family friend who’s a doctor, to get the ball rolling. He was extremely concerned. I got booked in for bloodwork, chest X-ray, 48 hour holter monitor test, and a lung function test. These all took place within a few months of when I was vaccinated. I also had a phone consultation with a local immunologist. Right off the bat he dismissed my reaction being from the vaccine. I asked him what supporting documents he had from the hospital, his answer was none. He didn’t even bother to look at my case. He sent a report to my region’s top doctor with his opinion.
In June I asked my doctor for a medical exemption to the second vaccine so I could travel with my daughter to watch her compete in a championship tournament in another province. Travel required me to be double-vaccinated. My doctor must have stumbled upon my lung function test in my file when reviewing it, and seen it had shown I needed further testing because something wasn’t right. So, I got a referral for more tests, but no exemption. I also asked Public Health.
In August I finally got in for more lung testing (almost eight months post-vaccination) and my results showed I was not breathing at a level I should be at. I was referred to a breathing clinic at a hospital where I was told it was asthma and given a puffer.
Late September I called my family doctor again, still complaining of issues I’d suffered since the vaccination. My family doctor asked what side effects…? This lit a fire in my soul. I was then referred to a different immunologist/allergist. This was the first doctor I met with in person (other than when I was having tests done or the few times I ended up in the ER).
When I met with the new immunologist, (October 2021), he tested me for allergies – none. While in our meeting he remarked my HR was high (as does everyone who takes my HR since the vaccine). He diagnosed me with a skin condition brought on by the vaccine and noted my breathing issues didn’t seem like asthma, so changed up my prescription. I gave him a written letter from a credible doctor who was recommending I get an exemption to the second vaccination. But despite my recorded reaction, my ten months of complaints and health struggles, he declined my request and said the benefits of the vaccine outweighed further risks… Wild!
In November 2021 I was put on unpaid leave from the LTC home I worked at for not being in compliance with having two vaccinations. This was despite staff with only one still being legally allowed to work for a few more weeks. I contacted the LTC home and my union. Neither helped and both stopped responding to my requests for answers.
In January 2022 I had another lung function test/appointment. I still fell at a level lower than I should be at, so l have been booked in for another test and follow up later this spring. Still no exemption. Still on puffers. Still rashing and welting. Still not allowed to work my healthcare job. Still can’t partake in society due to no pass. Still no accountability by anyone involved in these or mandates.
