Dianna

Diana

My name is Dianna and I’m 55 years old. I’m a mother and grandmother living in Ontario. During the pandemic I was finding things to do in lockdown. I wrote my first biography about mental health, I was doing crafts, I was able to dance and go for walks.

Shortly after I was called back to work, I sustained spinal injuries from a slip and fall. Fortunately I was able to be mobile with a cane, although most days I was walking like a robot – I couldn’t move my neck, just my eyes. I would cry because of severe pain. I had many MRI’s which show I have several pinched nerves and damage from the slip and fall. I’ve also had health issues since my hysterectomy.

I thought the vaccine would protect me from any further health complications if I were to contract Covid. We were also told things would go back to normal. I was deteriorating slowly health-wise and wanted to visit my daughter and grandson in Australia who I haven’t seen since before the pandemic. I was going to have a baby shower and cake for them, which I had been planning since the pandemic. I had put my crafts to good use, and I was excited to be around family again. The vaccine was the only option.

In April of 2021 I went with my son to get our vaccines. My first one was Moderna. Soon after receiving it I was dizzy and lightheaded. I thought I would pass out, but I didn’t. I was ill and thought I was going to vomit, but I didn’t. After 20 minutes my son and I were going home in his car and I told him I couldn’t feel my legs. They were numb for some reason. It wasn’t sore in my arm.

I texted my husband and asked him to come meet us. We were two minutes away. I told him my legs were numb and I was sick. He met us downstairs, outside of the apartment where he had to help me out of the car and up the stairs. I wasn’t able to climb the stairs on my own, which was odd. It was odd because even after my previous spinal injury I was still able to walk up stairs with my cane.

That night I was so sick I thought I was going to die – nausea, diarrhea, so much pain. These symptoms lasted for seven days. After that I was feeling back to normal. I thought those symptoms were expected, and intensified due to my injury.

In June 2021 I received the second Moderna vaccine. I had the flu symptoms again for a full 7 days. In the third week of August, I was in a dead sleep and was woken up by a really sharp chest pain. I thought I was having a heart attack. My stomach was sore and nauseated. I couldn’t sip on water because I was so sick. I also experienced all 4 limbs going numb randomly. These symptoms lasted for a day and a half until it subsided.

A couple of days later my husband and I were grocery shopping. I couldn’t move my legs and my arms were sore. My husband had to get a wheelchair and transport me back to the car. On the way home we were driving on a street I would normally recognize, but I didn’t know where I was or who I was. I also had ringing in my ear, it was like getting out of a concert. I was so confused that night.

I was scared to go to the hospital because of all the Covid cases reported on the news, so I tried to avoid it as long as I could.

Maybe a week went by after the grocery visit, I finally went to the ER on August 31st with really sharp chest pains. They took blood work and told me that my troponin levels were high, and that I should make an appointment with my cardiologist.

Each week this episode would happen where my limbs would go numb and I had heart pains. On September 25, 2021, I decided to see a surgeon for my neck issues at Toronto Western. My husband took me to emergency and all of a sudden the symptoms started happening again. All four limbs were numb, I felt like a robot, I couldn’t move, I had pain in my chest.

They had to put me on oxygen that night. They did a blood test and told me about my troponin levels again, they were at 114. This was too high, so they admitted me. That’s when they did extensive tests.

Around 1am neurologists came and told me I have functional neurological disorder. They wanted me to go to a clinic as an outpatient but it was a year-long waiting list. The cardiologist said it appeared as though I’d had a heart attack, but that I hadn’t. That’s when they did more extensive tests and blood work.

I was in the hospital from September 25th to September 30th. The cardiologist told me that part of my heart was inflamed, and one part was damaged. One side was twice the size. There was also a blockage where the blood couldn’t get to the heart. He told me I may need a pacemaker.

A third cardiologist said that I didn’t need a pacemaker.

When I was released, my troponin levels were still high. I could barely move or walk at all. That’s when I started using a wheelchair. I looked like the Night Of The Living Dead, I looked like a zombie the day I was released from hospital. My husband and son were mortified that they let me out of the hospital in that condition.

I went to a cardiologist again in October, 2021. He did his tests and read the reports from Toronto Hospital and told me I have myocarditis. He asked if I’d had the vaccine. I replied that I’d had the Moderna vaccine, and the last one was in June. He admitted I got myocarditis from the vaccine. He’s the only doctor I’ve encountered who made the connection.

He wanted to do a MRI, and they re-did all the tests, brain MRI, cervical exam. Same tests I had at the hospital in March, 2022. The brain MRI showed lots of blockages and white stuff. My cervical exam results were bad, the lumbar and neck MRIs were worse. They confirmed it was myocarditis, and I got a blood test that shows I have COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or over-inflated lungs. That’s why I was having breathing problems.

I was diagnosed with COPD and myocarditis. I’ve also been tested for lupus, cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. The doctors did a scope looking for cancer of the esophagus and stomach because I can not eat food now. I have forgotten what it’s like to eat a meal now.

My health declined immensely and rapidly since getting the Moderna vaccine. I have stenosis as well. I had MRIs for my injuries pre-vaccination and since receiving the vaccine my spinal health has noticeably declined. I now have bone spurs in my C5 and C6. I should’ve been healing or stabilizing from my injuries, not getting worse.

In early March I was in bed and I couldn’t get warm. I called my husband into the room and told him I couldn’t warm up, he felt that my skin was cold. He tried to warm me up and helped me to the couch. I still couldn’t warm up. I told him I was dizzy and light-headed and felt like I was going to pass out. I passed out. He shook me and I woke up, then told him I was still cold and passed out again.

After I woke up the second time I asked him to call an ambulance. I got admitted to Lake Ridge Health, where they had to put me on a blood pressure monitor in acute care. My blood pressure was so high. They said they were going to stress test me in the morning. That’s when the horror movie started.

For the first part of the stress test, they make your heart relax. They put something in the IV to make it think it’s relaxed, and they take different images. After that, they have to put stuff in the IV to make it think it’s racing, like on a treadmill. All of this is done while laying down. The weird thing was I didn’t feel my heart was racing, I just felt pain.

Then all of sudden the nurse said she was going to give me an adverse drug to calm my heart down again. I heard her say that it hadn’t worked, and that she would give me another dose.

Shortly after this she walked away, and I started foaming at the mouth. I started seizing. I couldn’t breathe. I was aspirating the foam, I was shaking the whole bed. That’s when 5-6 people ran towards me because I wasn’t breathing.

The whole bed was shaking and I could see the foam going 4 feet into the air. My eyeballs rolled to the back of my head. I was clinically dead for 2 minutes. I could still hear everything, see everything and feel everything. One doctor was pressing on my chest, the other doctor trying to force a tube in my throat, but they couldn’t get it in. It looked like I was overdosing on crack.

After that two minutes I stabilized. They gave me Ativan and put me to sleep. I had 6 seizures in the next 3 days, and they had to call code blue each time.

After one of my seizures the nurse asked the doctor to give me Ativan. The doctor refused. If it wasn’t for that nurse giving me Ativan against doctors orders I don’t think I would be alive.

A manager of the wing rudely told me I could get up and walk to the washroom. When I couldn’t, they told me I had to go into the commode. I felt I was treated unfairly, they didn’t even pick up my dinner dishes.

The morning before I was to get out of the hospital, the nurse checked my blood pressure on the right arm. It was 82 over 53. She said she will do the other arm, and wrote a normal blood pressure on my chart.

On Monday morning I demanded to be discharged. The Saturday before that Monday, another patient had problems with a nurse and had called the cops to help get himself out. I’m waiting for tomorrow to see results for another MRI.

Thank god for my husband, if it wasn’t for him I don’t know where I would be. If I didn’t get the vaccine I feel I would be in recovery from my previous injuries by now. I could be working today, or at least I would be able to use a computer or do what I used to.

I had vaccines when I was younger, I’ve never had adverse reactions to those ones. Now they are trying to separate the unvaccinated from the vaccinated and it’s not right. Some of my family are unvaccinated, and I’m happy they didn’t get it. Now that I’m speaking out, many Canadians are reaching out to me telling me of their injuries.

My dad has also suffered a reaction, he has pain in his left arm and hand. They are swelling, he’s been in pain ever since the vaccine. Now his pacemaker isn’t working anymore, his blood pressure is rising. He even got Covid after the vaccine.

Do your research before you make the decision to get vaccinated, please. Read all the adverse reactions. I don’t want what happened to me to happen to anyone else. And please don’t put this in your babies.
