I’m Derek’s wife Gaylene, we are from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We are Plains Cree people. Derek’s side of the family pressured him into taking the vaccine. l’m not vaccinated and neither are our kids.
My husband got the first Pfizer vaccine in April of 2021. At the end of May, he started getting sick. It started with shingles, then Bell’s palsy. Eventually, he started having breathing issues and was put on oxygen. He would also have tremors and his legs would shake. In the 29 years I’ve known him, I’ve never seen him do that.
The doctors did test after test, and they always come back negative for everything. My husband’s breathing issues started getting worse, and by the beginning of June, he was in the hospital for 3 weeks. That was his first hospital visit. A week later he was back in hospital for 5 weeks with the same breathing troubles.
Before taking the vaccine he could breathe on his own with no issues. I asked the doctors if it could be because of him getting the vaccine, if that’s what was making him sick. They told me they didn’t know.
They never diagnosed him with anything. He got to the point where he couldn’t walk very far and he’d be out of breath. Both hospital visits they tested him for Covid, which came back negative.
On September 11th, 2021 he was at home and couldn’t breathe, so I called the paramedics. They got him to the hospital but they couldn’t do anything, so sadly he passed away. They tested again for Covid which gave a positive result, so on the death certificate they put down Covid. They tested me and a couple other unvaccinated family members, we tested positive but had no symptoms.
Derek was 67, He always loved to help others. He has always done everything for his family. I miss him. Our kids and grandsons miss him too.
